Dr.(Ms) Mamta Tigga was born on August 20, 1978 and did her schooling from Raigarh Catholic Dioces School of Chhattisgarh. She did her B.V.Sc. & A.H. in 2001 from College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Durg. In 2004, she acquired her Master's degree majoring in Veterinary Pathology from Indira Gandhi Agricultural University, Raipur. She served as an Assistant Professor in the same University from March 16, 2005 to January 4, 2007.

On January 8, 2007 she joined as Scientist Probationer at NAARM, Hyderabad and completed 80th FOCARS on May 7, 2007. She joined as Scientist (Veterinary Pathology) at NRC on Equines in the Veterinary Type Cultures Scheme on May 18, 2007.
