Dr. (Major) R. S. Bansal born on 01st February 1950 at Ajmer (Rajasthan), had schooling from Ajmer. He graduated from Veterinary College, Bikaner (1974) and was awarded Gold Medal. He did post graduation from Punjab Agricultural University in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the year 1976. He then joined Indian Army, the corps of Remount and Veterinary Services in 1976 and served there till 1987. In the Army, the duties of Veterinary Officer basically dealing with the treatment of equines and that of administrative nature were performed. Later he served Doaba Stud and Agricultural Farm as Chief Veterinary Officer (1987-1989) and dealt with the breeding, management and treatment of equines, including thoroughbred. After this, Dr. Bansal served the Rajasthan State Government till 1997 as Manager, Sheep and Wool Federation before he finally joined NRCE as the Farm Manager (Livestock).
Dr. Bansal is a qualified Panel Veterinarian by successfully clearing the national level examination conducted by the Stud Book Authority of India, Royal Western India Turf Club in collaboration with Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India in the year 1989. He has also participated in several national and state level horse shows and animal fares in the capacity of Judge. At present, he is pursuing Ph.D. (Veterinary Obstetrics and Gynaecology) from Veterinary College, Bikaner on 'Ultrasound scanning and progesterone profile during various phases of reproduction in mares and jennies'.
